Mackerel fishing trips from Weymouth, West Bay and other harbours along the Jurassic
Coast have been a mainstay of the tourist trade for decades. And they’re still great
value today. Turn up on the harbour side during the main holidays and you’ll find
licensed boats specialising in taking you and your kids out for an hour or so to
catch fish. Whilst there are no guarantees, chances are that’s exactly what you’ll
do. More trips than not you’ll come back with fish for your tea and on some, you’ll
find that the fish just keep on coming!
And when it comes down to it, especially for kids and younger teens, its not so much
the “fishing” they are interested in, as actually catching fish!
